Laser cutting machines are renowned for their high precision and flexible cutting capabilities. They can be seen running at high speeds in various industries, including sheet metal and metal processing.
Laser cutting machines can cut various metal materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloys, etc. From a millimeter thin metal plate to a ten millimeter or even a hundred millimeter thick plate, perfect and precise cutting can be achieved. In the process of laser cutting machine processing, it is rare to encounter situations where the metal sheet cannot be cut through. What is the reason for this? The main reasons are as follows:
1. Exceeding the maximum cutting thickness
The thickness of the sheet metal cut by a laser cutting machine is related to the laser power. The fiber laser power is usually divided into three levels: low, medium, and high, with laser power ranging from 6000W to 30000W. However, laser cutting machines with different powers have a limit cutting thickness value. If the thickness of the metal sheet being cut exceeds the maximum thickness that the equipment can cut, it will result in incomplete cutting of the sheet.
2. Laser head optical component contamination
The laser cutting machine mainly relies on the laser cutting head to run the cutting process, and the optical components in the laser cutting head mainly include focusing components, protective lenses, etc. Due to long-term exposure to poor working conditions, laser cutting heads are prone to leaving residues on the surface of the lens, which may cause a decrease in laser power and result in incomplete cutting of metal workpieces.
3. Incorrect process settings for pattern layer processing
The processing technology setting for the pattern layer is incorrect or the cutting parameters are incorrect. Solution: Check if the pattern processing technology is correct and if the cutting parameters are set correctly.
4. Laser power decrease
After using the laser of the fiber laser cutting machine for a long time, the power will gradually decrease with the use time, ultimately leading to a decrease in cutting ability and the occurrence of incomplete cutting.
5. Deviation of cutting focus
The setting of the cutting focus of the laser cutting machine is one of the important factors affecting the cutting quality. When the adjustment of the cutting focus of the laser head does not meet the standard, it may lead to incomplete cutting of the sheet metal.
6. Incorrect focus adjustment
The bending of the material itself and the inconsistent height of the working area can lead to different focal lengths in different positions of the cutting area, especially when cutting large format patterns. Please use a strong magnet to flatten the material and use a focusing ruler to check if the height of each area on the work platform is consistent.
7. Insufficient pressure of cutting auxiliary gas
When performing cutting operations, the auxiliary gas can blow off the cutting residue and keep the cutting section smooth and flat. However, when the auxiliary gas pressure cannot reach, the residue is difficult to remove, which can lead to incomplete cutting.
The laser cutting machine cannot cut through the sheet metal, which not only affects the processing quality of the workpiece and wastes metal materials, but also has a certain impact on the laser cutting equipment.
